Lovely green aventurine belongs to the quartz family which contains pretty glistening fragments of what are usually mica but also at times hematite. The are wonderfully "jumbo" in size, really plump and substantial stones. Smaller than expected from description...
Natural variations are, naturally, to be expected - however, the gems I received are much, much lighter than the photos shown. These are also listed as 1"+ which I take to mean at least 1", with some being larger... one of mine barely scrapes the 1" mark and the other barely makes 3/4". However, for the price I really can't complain.
